Why teach "Use A Ramp"

  • Safety

Ramps encourage safer and more controlled movements, reducing the risk of falls or accidents

  • Prevent joint stress

By teaching your dog to use a ramp you're preventing potential injuries caused by repetitive jumping

  • Promote independence

A will will enable your dog to access elevated surfaces without relying on you to lift them

"Use A Ramp"

Follow these steps when teaching your dog to use a ramp

• To help your dog get comfortable with the ramp, start by laying the ramp flat on the ground and luring them with treats

• Say “Yes” and reward your dog with a treat every time they take a step on the ramp

• Once your dog is reliably walking across the ramp you can connect the ramp to your car or bed

• Lure them up the ramp by saying “Yes” and giving them treats for every step they take

• When they make it to the top give them an extra treat and shower them with praise

Pro tip

If your dog isn’t food motivated, substitute treats for a toy
