Stay
Teaching “Stay” is a great way to instill impulse control and is also a useful cue for telling your dog to stay in position until released
• Have your dog sit right in front of you
• Say “Stay” and take two steps away from your dog When you’re at the farthest point from your dog, say “Yes”
• Then step back towards your dog and reward them with a treat
• Once your dog is able to “Stay” 10 consecutive times in a row, start to increase the distance
If your dog isn’t food motivated, substitute treats for a toy, petting or praise
• Lamb lung. Dogs love these and they're perfect because they're very small.
• Treat pouch. A pouch is a great place to hold your treats during a training session or on a walk.
