  • Comfort and safety

Getting the right equipment for your dog, such as a properly fitting collar or harness, ensures their comfort and safety during walks or outdoor activities, minimizing the risk of injury or discomfort.

  • Training

Using suitable equipment specific to your dog's needs, such as specialized leashes or harnesses, can make activities like training easier and more enjoyable

"Purchasing The Right Equipment"

Equipment to purchase

• A sturdy leash. We recommend purchasing a 4 to 6 foot, non-retractable leash. This will ensure your dog is secure and can’t get too far ahead of you on walks. Recommendation: Mendota 6-ft rope leash

• A reliable collar and ID tag. Include your name, your dog's name, and your contact info. Chocker and prong collars are unsafe and highly discouraged, but Martingale collars are a great option because they will prevent your adopted dog from slipping out of the collar and won't cause matting or bald spots like some standard collars. Recommendation: Martingale collar

• A front-clip harness. This can be helpful when teaching your dog to walk politely on leash. Recommendation: Freedom harness

• A mesh crate. Crates provide a safe space for your dog and should be big enough for them to sit, stand, lie down, and turn around in. Recommendation: Frisco dog crate

• A high quality dog bed. Choose a bed with a cover that can be easily removed and washed. Recommendation: FurHaven Orthopedic Bed
